Remarkable Musicians
"Legends of the Celtic Harp" in concert in Cambria, California on August 6, 2011. I was shooting in available light and being without tripod or solid substrate upon which to rest the camera for the shot, I braced myself as best I could, brought my breathing under control and squeezed the shutter release gently. I hoped for the best. I am continually amazed by the flexibility of the little Olympus XA in low light. I used Walgreens 800 ASA film.

Long Driveway
It's the long driveway off Anaheim Street into Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach California. Recreation Park Golf Course dates from the 1920s and this stretch of driveway, which I think may no longer be used has, in my opinion, a 1920s Southern California vibe. Shot with a Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex, using expired Fuji Pro 400H color film cross-processed in Rodinal (RO9) 1-100 for 60 minutes.

San Francisco
I took this picture in September of 2010 with my Konica I. The Konica I is an old rangefinder camera. Vintage 1949 I think. Stamped on the leatherette are the words "Made in Occupied Japan." The camera came with a green filter. I used the green filter for this shot, which I took from a conference room high up in the Westin Hotel, just off Union Square. The camera has no light meter (and neither do I) so I estimated the exposure. The film was Kodak T-MAX 400 I think.

Blacksmith at Work
Fort Tejon, California. Ft. Tejon was a US Army outpost that was garrisoned for about 10 years between 1855 and 1865. It's located near Gorman, in the "Grapevine". You'll pass right by it if your on the 5 Freeway. It's well worth a visit if you have a little extra time. The barracks are restored as are a couple of other buildings and there are some displayes of contemporary military equipment. The docents are knowledgable, too. I took this image using my Canon F1 with Canon FD 28mm lens. I was using the 25 ASA Kodak Technical Pan film kindly donated to the Film Photography Podcast by Flickr member Nano-Burger. I took this shot on Aug 6 2011.

Fair Food
The healthiest stuff I saw on offer at the Orange County Fair was grilled vegetables. But deep fried butter on a stick and funnel cakes the size of cow pyes were more popular. Costa Mesa, California, August 12, 2011. Canon F1. Canon FD 50mm lens. Walgreens 200 ASA film.

Tall Building
Birmingham Alabama. I took this shot the day the tornadoes hit a few months ago. The tornado sirens all over the city sounded not long after I took the shot. Being from earthquake country the question naturally occurred to me,..."What should I do?" Since no one else seemed to be panicking neither did I. Had I known what was to transpire later perhaps I would have.
I used my Vivitar PN2011 camera with flipped lens. It had "Memories" brand 200 ASA film.

Seal Beach Liquor
On Main Street in Seal Beach, California. Shot taken with my Vivitar PN2011 with flipped lens and Legacy Pro 400 film. Developed in Rodinal (R09 One Shot).

Control Tower-LAX
One of the routes out of LAX is a circuitous one that leads right bast the new control tower. (I say new, but I don't know how new. I just know it's newer than the original one that still stands nearby.) I took ths snap out the moonroof of my car with my Olympus XA. It had Walgreens 200 ASA film in it at the time. It was about 7 am on Aug 2.

Sunlight Falling On A Chair
Taken with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash Model box camera from the 1950s. This camera was designed to take 620 roll film, but it accepts 120 film. I used Fuji Acros 100 ASA film for this image. I developed the image in Rodinal.
